Top 5 Ways to Add Protein to Any Low Carb Diet and Lose a Pound a Week
Just a Few Protein Staples Can Pack Satisfaction into Every Bite

Looking for the best way to add more protein to your low carb diet and lose a pound a week? Then try these Top 5 Ways to Add Protein to Any Low Carb Diet:

  • Nonfat Skim Milk Powder: Add powdered milk to any soup to make it "creamy," such as my Spicy Cucumber Gazpacho soup. You can even add it to mashed cauliflower to improve both the texture and protein count of your Parmesan Smashed Faux Potatoes. Beans and Lentils: Beans and lentils contain complex carbohydrates and tons of protein and fiber. Sprinkle some on any salad or how about trying my California Beach Sour Cream Chicken Salad topped with a handful of chickpeas? Tofu, soy powder, soy based meat substitute products: Cut up a few pieces of firm tofu and drop it into soups or salads for a great protein boost. But if you suffer from hypothyroidism, soy products can actually make you gain weight, so watch the amount you use on a daily basis.
  • Egg whites: The old diet standby is pure protein without fat or cholesterol. Hard boil an egg, remove the yolk, and fill with salsa, mashed avocado or sprinkle on any salad.
  • Lean cuts of meat : Turkey or chicken breasts can be poached, sauteed, grilled or baked and add oodles of protein to any main course. Ground versions of turkey are a great substitute for beef and would pack lots more protein into my Vegetable Ribbon Lasagna

There's no limit to the ways you can easily pack more protein into your low carb diet, and that means you feel fuller faster and stay satisfied longer, according a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Adding more protein instead of fat to your low carb diet, while keeping carbs constant, can result in a decreased intake of 450 calories a day. That can result in a pound a week weight loss, so try my Boomer Babe Recipes and aim for a 40% protein/25% fat/35% carb intake to lose weight.
